Directors: Mike Blake & Richard Killick

Mike Blake BSc, CEng, FIMarEst, spent 25 years as a Marine Engineer with the Royal Navy as Charge Engineer for both conventional and nuclear powered submarines. Shore support roles included Maintenance Manager for the First Submarine Squadron in Portsmouth, Procedure Authorisation Group Chairman and Dockmaster for the Clyde Naval Base.

He was a Site Liaison Officer with AEA Technology (Submarine Reactor Department) during first critical operations of a new design reactor core at HMS Vulcan and initial construction of the Astute Class vessels with BAE Systems (Marine) and then with British Energy as team leader for the Safety and Performance Enhancement Project at Sizewell B Power Station.

Mike's practical experiences have provided a unique insight to problem solving while ensuring safe and efficient operation is maintained.

Eur Ing Richard Killick MA (Cantab) MBA CEng FIET FIMechE FINucE FCMI CDipAF DipM was Director of Safety & Quality and Chairman of the Nuclear Safety Committee at Scottish Nuclear Limited before its amalgamation into British Energy.

A Royal Navy background in nuclear submarines followed by spells at the Clyde Submarine Base, the Admiralty Research and Test Reactor site at Dounreay and as the head of nuclear safety at Rosyth Dockyard has provided him with unrivalled experience in the nuclear industry.

He has served as an assessor to the Dept of Energy Advisory Committee on Safety of Nuclear Installations, has worked closely with the Nuclear Installations Inspectorate (NII) and is an independent member of the Scottish Universities Research Reactor Centre Nuclear Safety Committee.

Since joining Sage Safety Ltd, he has advised on a variety of major civilian, military and governmental projects ranging from safety management for nuclear installations to the de-licensing of a former research reactor site.
